Lol no... If you've ever been IP banned from a server, site, etc, you can use proxies to get around them.

Also if you bothered to read:

Why should you use Proxy ?
the answer is quite simple, if you connect directly they got your ip and can get you quite easy banned.

To put it in easy words, you basicly hide your real IP by using a proxy (again easy words). Kind of like disguising it so that when you connect, they don't see your real IP that way you won't get banned on your real IP when you do get banned. Also, if you're banned on your real IP you can use proxies to get around it.

A quick way to test this is to try to ping the ip, or use it in firefox to see if it brings anything up. That's usually the fastest way to see if the proxy works.... Naturally, most anonymous proxies aren't really 24/7, but can be semi-active. Because of this, you should probably get a list of the most reliable/recent, and record them...

Since I haven't been able to connect using sockscap, I was wondering if my wireless lan is screwing things up or is it simply hard to find a working socks proxy?

Was IP banned from EtherealRO. Kept getting the "Rejected from server." message before, but now using SocksCap, i keep gettin "Failed to connect to server." message -_______-. Does anyone know the problem? The server is not down.

It still works.

It's probably your proxy. Usually proxies wont last long, and some proxies, I dunno why, just automatically reject connections.

okay, umm i see that this topic was created over a year ago but i still cant find a working proxy. the sock.rar file listed there doesnt work anymore and i was wondering if someone has another link for it or something? ummm i was also wondering would this proxy be outdated. thanks.

2. Check http://freeproxy.ru. They have updated free SOCKS proxies every three hours.
