In this tutorial, I'll explain how to make your very own basic signature with Photoshop!
Requirements:
- Adobe Photoshop [Recommended version = Photoshop 7.0+!]1. Create a new document. The average size for a signature is around
370x110 (considering you want it an average size o_o)
2. Pull out your favourite brush set. If you don't have one, go to
http://deviantart.comGo to Browse, then Resources, then Photoshop Brushes (if you need more help on finding it, then post here and I'll go more in depth in explaining).
3. Press "D" to reset your color pallette, and then go to Filter > Render > Clouds.
Keep rendering until you're happy with what you have.
At this point, you should have something similar to this :
4. Well, start brushing a little bit (1 brush at a time, because you don't want to
totally nuke the same brush otherwise it'll looks UBER repetitive.)
5. Once you're happy with what you have, create a new folder somewhere for your .psds and save what you have so far, just incase your computer shuts down.
At this point, (considering you're me) you should have something similar to this:

NOTE: YOU SHOULD BE BRUSHING IN BLACK!6. If yours is a little too dark, then you have three options:
- Take a switch to white for 2 or 3 brushings, so it'll look a little brighter.
- Ctrl+L to access the lighting levels, and fool around a bit till I'm happy.
- Be lazy and leave it as-is.
7. Now to add some color; go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Color Balance Layer.
NOTE: THIS LAYER SHOULD BE ABOVE EVERYTHING! Fool around with the midtones and highlights, and leave the shadows till the end.
Get a color you like, and hit OK.
At this point, you should have something similar to this:

NOTE: Don't get so worked up over the color. Focus on main attributs of the Hue scale [ Blue-Cyan-Green are a good combination, aswell as Red-Yellow-Magenta ].8. Adding text should come next. This part is quite difficult, so please follow along accordingly. Grab your favourite font and type your name in. Choose a good size,
I prefer size 30 or 24, so it won't draw attention away from the rest of my signature.
You can go to tutorialseek.com and look for some awesome text tutorials (because getting a good effect takes longer to learn that how to use the Pen tool [which is something I'm still learning, btw ]. ) or you can scroll to the bottom of my tutorial to
view my most desired font style EV4R.
At this point, you should have something similar to this:

NOTE: If you're going for a basic signature (as I am for this tutorial) then super1337text efffects aren't really mandatory. Just do whatever makes you comfortable.9. Adding a border is very simple, yet it is something most people have trouble on.
Here I'll show you how to make a basic border (that's quite effective and you can
use it everywhere). First, make a new layer (it should be one below your color balance layer, but one above your text layer). Ctrl+A to select all. Right click the image with the Selection Tool, and go to "Stroke...". Set the options to:
1 Pixel, Black, Inside, 100% OPAC. , Normal Blend mode, and the Preserve Transparency isn't really needed, so just go and unclick that. Click OK, and you have yourself a border!
NOTE: Right now, the border may look 2 pixels thick, but it only looks like that
because Photoshop already gives you a border, but when you save it it's not there.
The border will look really neat when you save it, trust me.
At this point, your layer's pallette should look similar to this:
10. Final Touchups:- Grab a small Tech brush set, and do some brushings to make the Background look
a bit funner. If your background is more dark then it is bright, then make the tech brushings white.
- Use the Burn and Dodge tool to lighten/brighten up some areas you feel need it.
- Use a pattern on the background, and give it a mask to create a cool netty feel.
11. Mini-tuts:Currently underconstruction, so bare with me a little bit.
