Photoshop for Dumbies.

In this tutorial I'll teach you the basics of the most important tools in Photoshop, how to use these tools, and I'll give examples to why these are important.

1. Selection Tool ( or Marquee tool ).
Possibly the most used tool in Photoshop. This tool can be used for just about everything. One aspect that's used for alot of things is the Fill and Stroke options. Stroke strokes the selection, wether it be a thick line possible 3 pixels wide or a 1 pixel black stroke used for borders. Fill fills the selection with a color or pattern you choose. I use this alot for bases of website layouts. It helps keep me organized. Some tricks for the selection tool include:
- Hold shift down to get a perfect shape (if you're using the "Eliptical Marquee tool" then you'll get a perfect circle).
- Once selected, hold down the shift to add another selection on top of your current. This can be used to select more than one thing at a time.
- "Inverse" can be used to select 'everything but the current selection' which can be very useful for obvious reasons.

2. Move tool.

Another VERY important tool in PS. It's used to move things from place to place. A neat thing about this is the Shift alternate command. Holding shift while moving can move it in a straight line, or a 45 degree angle. This is VERY useful when trying to get a symmetrical look in signatures or large art.
